Transforming Type : New Directions in Kinetic Typography
This monograph, published by Bloomsbury Academic, identifies a category of behavior in kinetic typography that is distinct from other forms of temporal typography, and presents a typology of kinetic behaviors, in order to provide graphic designers, film-makers, and animators with the language and understanding to sufficiently define their work and describe its behavior. It provides a detailed analysis of the various behaviours identified within the typology, and focused exploration of how these behaviours affect legibility. It examines how this typology may be used in the analysis of case studies in film, branding, and fine art. It thereby demonstrates that this typology has applications in both screen-based and non screen-based media (such as holography).
