Optical and physical characterization of European and Indo-Asian pollution plumes with six-wavelength aerosol lidar.
IEEE COMPUTER SOC.
Optical and physical particle properties of two typical pollution plumes emitted from the European continent during the Aerosol Characterization Experiment ACE 2, and from the Indo-Asian continent during INDOEX are characterized from six-wavelength lidar observations. In both cases effective radii were 0.1-0.25 mum. Complex refractive indices were 1.6-0.01i were obtained for the INDOEX case. Accordingly the single scattering albedo was 0.95-1.0 at 532 nm in the first case, but 0.8-93 in the second case.
